"...earthy vibe and strong voices deserve attention"

Rolling Stone

Women In Docs are a popular, and currently independent, folk-crossover-country alternative act based in Brisbane, Australia. They have been compared to the Indigo Girls and The Waifs (Australia), but have made their own unique impact on their numerous fans worldwide.

With a reputation for stirring and humorous live performances and a vigorous touring schedule, Women In Docs have spent six years building a fiercely loyal following throughout Australia, as well as touring internationally to win over audiences throughout North America, Europe, New Zealand and China.

Women in docs have accrued an impressive array of career benchmarks. They've played major festivals throughout the world (including SXSW in Austin, Texas and Folk Alliance in San Diego, both in  2004).  They enjoy ongoing airplay throughout Australia, with extensive airplay on college radio in America and Canada, as well as airplay in Shanghai and Germany.  They have sold nearly 20,000 CDs independently. Recent releases have spent time in the Top 10  of the Australian Independent Records Charts and Top 40 of the Americana Folk Charts,  and they regularly play to packed houses, touching the lives of people from a broad cross-section of ages and cultural backgrounds.

They have recently successfully showcased at 2006's Folk Alliance Conference in Austin, Texas as well as at Toronto's esteemed conference - Canadian Music Week.  With such successful showcases, and their calendar booked to brimming for North America's Summer,  Women In Docs returned to the States and Canada in June / July 2006, released their record "Under a Different Sky" (Baria / IDN) and captured the hearts of festivals lovers from Vancouver, to California to Pennsylvania.

"Music can touch people at a primal level - evoking different emotions and triggering memories of particular places and times.

Music is such a part of our emotional makeup - it can make you patriotic, it can make you want to fight,

it can make you want to cry"
