"A powerhouse vocalist" A unique name created by her mother 24 years ago, Chontia was introduced to the beauty and magic of singing and song writing, following in her Mum's footsteps, who had instilled in her a passion for the craft. Sadly, losing her mother 7 years ago, the long grieving process began but it put her on a path to write songs which helped her through the tough times. Self taught vocally and instrumentally, at the age of 18, Chontia began performing live within Sydney and Queensland. It was during this time that Chontia developed a deep and keen passion for performing and she knew what she wanted to achieve throughout her life, and as Chontia puts it "...to become a well known - respected singer/songwriter/guitarist. I want people to walk away from my original/cover performances feeling positive and connected to my music" Chontia's passion for performing live is greater than ever, and is most inspired by Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Jewel. Her music is a folk alternative rock style, suited to all walks of life. She might be small in stature, but her powerhouse vocals raise her beyond most singers twice her age! |
